Description
The Short S.25 Sunderland was a British flying boat patrol bomber, developed and constructed by Short Brothers for the Royal Air Force (RAF). The aircraft took its service name from the town (latterly, city) and port of Sunderland in North East England.
This particular Sunderland a MK V is taking off from Luskentyre on the Isle Of Harris Scotland. This RAAF squadron 461 was involved in operations over the North Sea to hunt submarines and destroyed 5 in total at various locations in the war.
Over the years I have painted many Sunderland's for those who have flown in them during their time of service in the RAF and those of the Commonwealth, or for family members as a memory of their loved ones.
Bill has been painting and selling his artworks and prints for over 30 years and they are collected worldwide.
