Artist Commissions

May 25th, 2021

In the increasingly competitive world of online art sales some platforms are having to be very aggressive to attract customers. It would be interesting to hear from artists as to their experiences in this regard. I purposely leave the subject very open to attract a plethora of opinions and experiences/anecdotes. Where do we artists see this leading too? The age of the gallery for the unknown artist attempting to make a foothold in the so-called 'Artworld' is fast becoming something of a long distant memory lost in the ether of ambition and the yearning for recognition. Internet platforms ( especially like the early leaders in the field ) such as pixels.com/Fine Art America have given the everyday artist a voice that can reach across the globe. This is something the galleries could only do for an infinitesimal number of artists. So as artists we are grateful for the internet and the platforms that enable us to reach a massive audience. Some artist say 'I don't want prints of my artworks as it lessons their worth'. Most of these artist are still hoping to sell an original after years of effort but steadfastly remain true to their beliefs. I say that's ok and good luck with that. When a sale takes place whether it's an original or a print the collector is still appreciating your artwork and has chosen to support your ongoing commitment to art with their hard earned cash. Now as an artist that's got to give you a lift.
So in conclusion I hope this gives a flavor of what i'm posting this blog about. C'mon fellow artists let's hear your views!
